Directions
When coming from
Houston, you may take 290
or I10/71, then see below, "Approaching
from the East". When coming from Dallas/Ft.Worth/San
Antonio, you may take I35, but you may also take Hwy 281 for a more
scenic and relaxing route, which may be faster or not, depending on
where you're coming from. The cabin is at the
intersection of
Crawfish Lane and
Edgewater Drive, zip
code of 78669, which may be located on any on-line map service such as
mapquest.com.
Here's the
Map.
Approaching from the East
- Go to the intersection of IH35 and Hwy 71, then head west from there
on Ben White Freeway, which is also the
combined Hwy 71 and Hwy 290. Construction is going on there, so the
exit may not be very clear, so watch closely. The exit sign may only
be for Hwy 71 and/or 290 West. Go a few miles, staying on 71/290,
until you reach the town of
Oak Hill. In Oak Hill, 71
and 290 split, take the right split to stay on 71 West. Go a few miles
to the town of
Bee Cave. In
Bee
Cave, shortly
after passing an HEB on the right, you go through a light,
then shortly after that is another light
for Hwy 620. Staying on 71 West, go 5.1
miles after the intersection with Hwy 620, then turn right at the
light on to
Bee Creek Road. Then
go 5.3 miles (set your trip odometer) to turn right at
Thurman Bend Road.
Then go 3.7 miles to
Edgewater Drive, where Thurman Bend changes
name to Crawfish Lane.
The cabin is on your left at that intersection, with a concrete
entrance, a pavestone driveway, a split rail fence on the left of the
driveway, and a rock wall to the right of the driveway.
The grey colored cabin is at the end of the driveway.
Approaching from the West
ñ Go to the intersection of Hwy 281 and 71, then
head east from there on Hwy 71 East, towards
Austin. After about 10
miles you'll pass over the
Pedernales
River arm of
Lake
Travis. Right
after that, turn left at the light on to
Pace Bend Road (also
has some number designation). Go about 2 miles and turn right on to
Bee Creek Road, just
past Lee's on the right. Then just under 2
miles turn left on to
Thurman Bend Road.
Then go 3.7 miles to
Edgewater Drive,
where Thurman Bend changes name to Crawfish Lane. The
cabin is on you left at that intersection, with a concrete entrance, a
pavestone driveway, a split rail fence on the left of the driveway,
and a rock wall to the right of the driveway. The
grey colored cabin is at the end of the driveway.
